Citlalli H. Xochitiotzin Ortega Presentation
Mexican, born in 1957, Writer belonging to the 1950s generation: She studied Sociology at the Universidad Autónoma de México and Philosophy at UAT. Poet, essayist, writer, philosopher. She has participated in literature and culture congresses throughout the country, in Los Angeles, USA, and in Moscow, Russia (Academy of Sciences and Arts 1999), as well as in writer residencies. Included in anthologies, both from Mexico and abroad, including Spain and Peru. Her work has been translated into English and Russian. She has written books of poetry, history, and essays, among which the poetry collections stand out: "Geometría de la incertidumbre" (CONACULTA-Universidad de Monterrey), "Días del Polvo" (UNAM), "Memorial de la Sangre" (UNAM), among others. "Fulgor de Alimentos" published by Errante Editor. "Poemas sobre los techos" published by Letras de Barro in 2020. She has also written a three-volume biography of the master Desiderio Hernández Xochitiotzin in 2020-2021. From the book "Historia de un edificio" (Tribunal Superior de Justicia, 2019). Alongside her literary work, she is involved in organizing, promoting, and disseminating culture in Mexico and the USA, as well as in founding public and civil society institutions: she founded the first 44 public libraries in her state (1982-1999), she was a founder of the Instituto Tlaxcalteca de Cultura (1982-1999), Radio Altiplano, and civil associations for human rights. As Director of Culture of the Capital Municipality (2011-2013), she founded the first three festivals of the city's founding, presenting programs with the embassies of China and India. She created the first three festivals of the "Maratón de las Danzas" coordinated with other states of the Mexican Republic, the "First three book fairs in coordination with the IBERO highschool," and the training of orange companies in coordination with UNESCO. She was Vice President of CONAIMUC (2013). She has been involved in social movements for individual guarantees, peace, women, and feminist movements since the 1970s: she was a pioneering founder of "La Casa de la mujer" in Tlaxcala in 1983. In the publishing world, she has directed collections of poetry books, edited two art books, one of which won a prize in Germany, and researched four volumes of a writer's complete works, as well as directing literary, cultural magazines, and children's editions, and cultural dissemination mural newspapers, editing four essay books by an author, and the contents of the tourist guidebook. Currently, she is President of the Desiderio Hernández Xochitiotzin Foundation (2005-2023). She is the editor of Cuarto Creciente. She has received awards in Spain and Mexico in recognition of her work as a poet. She is the President of the Mexican Culture Seminar, Tlaxcala chapter. She has two wonderful daughters. As a hobby, she cultivates an organic garden and teaches Tai Chi. Since 2022, she has been coordinating efforts for the understanding and solutions of the forests of Mount Malitzin, through civil society activity.
